Welcome to the Virtual School Library, brought you by Oak National Academy in partnership with the National Literacy Trust.
Every week a popular children's author or illustrator will provide you with free books, exclusive videos and their top three recommended reads.
Having access to a school library is really important for children. School libraries nurture a love of reading that can enrich children’s literacy skills, academic achievements and mental wellbeing. Our Virtual School Library will complement existing school libraries and will ensure that children have access to the magical world of stories all year round, whether they are learning at school or at home.
Unfortunately, due to the current weather, overnight forecast and conditions on and around the school site, we will be closed on Monday.
Apologies for any inconvenience or disruption caused.
Home Learning is available here:

Unfortunately, due to a further confirmed case of COVID 19 in the Year 2 bubble, we are unable to open the bubble to children until Friday 29th January 2021.
This includes all key-worker and vulnerable children.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Thank you to all of your support with Home Learning during the current period of lockdown.
We have provided over thirty devices to families struggling to access the virtual lessons at home and we will do all we can to support others who are having to use smartphones etc for learning.
By using the Oak Academy online resources, we have tried to support families by allowing greater flexibility of when these are accessed and completed.
We are also aware that many older children are required to complete daily 'live' secondary school lessons and this adds further pressure on your resources and time at home.
If you do not have an appropriate device at home or are having to share a single unit amongst a number of children then please contact the school office and we will do our best to help.
Due to an announcement made this morning by the Department for Education, we are able to continue to supply free school meal vouchers to eligible families through Wonde.
I am sure you will agree that the vouchers you have received since the end of the Autumn term, have been much easier and quicker to access, so we have made the decision to continue with this provider and not switch to the Government scheme provided by Edenred.
Vouchers will be provided at £15 per child per week and will be sent out each Monday.
Please contact the school office if you have any queries.
Thank you to everyone's hard work this week with their home learning. Oakham staff have received lots of great examples sent in from children across the whole school. As we always say; 'Keep it up!'
The next packs to support Home Learning (Nursery, Reception and Years 1-6) are available to collect from 9am Monday 18th January. Please note that work packs can be collected without preordering.
The packs are created to support the Oak Academy Learning Virtual Lessons - all links are on the school website. Please use each Virtual Lesson before completing the daily learning tasks.
Please start the Home learning Pack 2 on Monday as this will mirror the sessions in school, especially important for the families attending school on a part-time basis.
Don't forget that our virtual teachers are available during school hours to answer queries and offer guidance and feedback on emailed work. They will also continue to contact families for a catch up and provide an opportunity to discuss any issues. Full details are available HERE
As you are aware, the Government are re-launching the national free school meal voucher scheme for those families who are eligible.
Vouchers will be provided by Edenred at £15 per child, per week, currently confirmed for term time only. There is no official notification for February half term at this time.
The system is currently being set up and will be available for us to use to place our order from Monday 18th January. This will result in a delay for the first set of vouchers reaching our families which we have been advised may be up to 4 days.
We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.
We are currently experiencing issues with our landline telephones and access to broadband due to complications from the weekend's local power-cut.
As a temporary measure, please contact the school office via the Squirrels Mobile No: 07376481659 with URGENT ISSUES OR MESSAGES.
Our Virtual Oakham Teachers are available to support home learning and are making routine welfare calls to families.
Other queries can be sent to the usual school office email address and will be responded to once our broadband issues are resolved.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
