Our School Vision, Mission, Values & Aims

Our School Motto

‘Succeeding Together’

Our School Vision

At Oakham, we strive for the all-round development of every child and the growth of creative, enquiring minds for success in school and beyond.

Our staff, governors, parents and carers work in partnership with our children to support their progress and empower them to achieve their potential to become independent, life-long learners.

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment in which children will thrive and develop intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.

Our school is a place where learning is central to everything and learning journeys are exciting, stimulating and challenging.

We acknowledge and respect children from diverse family and cultural backgrounds and celebrate every child’s academic, social, physical and moral development.

Our School Values

  • Friendship & Kindness
  • Honesty, Trust & Compassion
  • Unity & Co-operation
  • Empathy, Tolerance & Respect

Our school values are at the heart of everything we do at Oakham. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens in our modern society.

Oakham Primary School - Promoting British Values

The Department for Education introduced a statutory duty for schools to promote British Values more actively from September 2014, and to ensure they are taught in schools. The government have defined British Values as:

  • Democracy
  • The Rule of Law
  • Individual Liberty
  • Mutual Respect
  • Tolerance of different faiths and beliefs.

At Oakham Primary School we take very seriously our responsibility to prepare children for life in modern Britain. We value the  backgrounds of all pupils and families and undertake a variety of events and lessons to celebrate and explore these alongside other cultures in our country.

We ensure that the fundamental British Values are introduced, discussed and lived out through the ethos and work of the school.

We believe that this blend of Oakham and British values, highlighted above, enable our children to develop into reflective, empathetic and well-rounded citizens who will make a positive contribution to modern society.

Our School Aims - Oakham Learners

Throughout our school you will see our 'Oakham Learner Qualities' being modelled, applied and celebrated by staff and children. These are the basis of our learning philosophy and school aims.
