We've received a really interesting suggestion for families with XBox or Playstation devices at home. If they are connected to the internet, they can access our website and use the home TV as a screen for virtual lessons BEFORE completing the PAPER WORK PACKS available to all from school.
This may help families currently sharing access to computers, laptops or tablets - The Oak Academy videos are prerecorded rather than live to make learning sessions more flexible and allow you and children to best this fit into your home circumstances.
Families with no access to internet or IT equipment at home and are not in school should inform the school office as we may be able to help.

Our school meal provision for children who are able to attend will continue with SIPS Catering. This means Universal Free School Meals, Free School Meals and £2.30 Meals from the new, reduced menu will be live from Monday and should still be booked via your ParentPay account.
We are still waiting on further Government information on a food voucher scheme for eligible families, not able to take a lunch in school. Therefore, we will be managing our own scheme via WONDE until this is resolved.
Eligible families will begin to receive WONDE vouchers from Monday through emails already registered with us. A daily rate of £2.30 will be paid for each child (this amount is equivalent to our daily meal cost). The first voucher of £20.70 will cover Tuesday 5th - Friday 15th January and then a weekly amount of £11.50 per child will follow until further notice.
Please be aware that the previous £15 voucher scheme was subsidised by the government whereas this offer is paid directly from the Oakham school budget.
Please ensure that children watch the three daily videos that the english, maths & topic lessons are based on - it is important that they use these resources to support their learning and prepare them for the follow up learning activities.

Families requiring paper workpacks can collect the first set of resources from 10am, Wednesday 6th January. Answer sheets for some of the learning activities will be uploaded by Friday 8th January.
Support and Feedback are available online (during school hours) - please read the guidance on the Learning section of the school website.
We are offering places for Key Worker families in school - please register via the school website. Our expectations are that children will complete a FULL SCHOOL DAY on the days they are attending.
Unlike previous lockdown situations, we are providing teaching and learning rather than emergency childcare - early collections are disruptive to learning and we are running school services with a reduced workforce. If your child will not be attending on certain days, please inform school in advance wherever it is possible.
Your co-operation and support with this is greatly appreciated.
In order to support children's learning during our partial closure, we have created home learning packs based on the online Oak Academy.
There is a daily video lesson for children to watch for English , Maths and one other curriculum area. These allow you to watch, rewind and pause the session to support children's understanding and learning.
Oakham staff have provided appropriate resources to compliment the daily virtual lesson.

School opens from 8.30am tomorrow - Please wear a facemask where possible when dropping off & collecting children from the premises.
All classrooms will be ventilated by ajar windows - please ensure children have enough layers on to keep them warm throughout the day.
