  • Year 6 Leavers awards

    Tue 20 Jul 2021

A massive well done to our prize winners in Year 6 2021. Staff had the impossible job of choosing just 4 this year across year 6 and these are the worthy winners and what they had to say about receiving the award.

Sofia - "I couldn't believe I got the Successful Learner Award. I'm so proud and my family are too."

Charlie - I pushed myself to achieve and my advice would be to never give up and always try your hardest. (Gill Moore award)

Mannat - "My family were super happy that I got the progress award and said well done!"

Isla also won the achievement award and said that she was sad that she couldn't be there for the ceremony but really happy that she has won.

  • July's Home Learning Heroes

    Fri 16 Jul 2021

Our last Home Learning heroes for this school year were announced by Mr Skett in assembly today. Also awarded was Esme Cheadle in Mr Mill's class but unfortunately the Class 11 bubble is closed at the moment so Mr Skett hand delivered a t'shirt for her this afternoon.

Well done to everyone for all of your hard work this year and as

    Mr Skett says,

                                           "Keep it up!"

  • Wolverhampton University Primary ITE Award

    Thu 15 Jul 2021

We are very pleased to announce that Oakham Primary School was awarded the 2021 Primary ITE Award by Wolverhampton University, earlier this week.

The award is in recognition of the high quality of support provided to trainee teachers by the Oakham staff during their BA and PGCE placements.

Thank you to all of the teaching staff who have hosted students on placements and acted as mentors, throughout this turbulent academic year.

A special mention also goes to Miss Whitehouse in Class Seven who, for the second year running, was nominated for the individual Primary ITE Mentor award too.

Congratulations to all of our amazing staff and children!

  • Year 5 Art Competition - Well Done!

Wed 14 Jul 2021 Mr Kettle

As the academic year is slowly approaching, two girls in Class 13, Isla and Emily, decided that they wanted to organise and lead an art competition, based on a theme of the 'elements' for the children in Year 5.

Completely independent, their organisation and planning has been extremely impressive and due to their enthusiasm pushing the project, we have had lots of entries.

However, after much agonising and deliberating (this was just Mr Kettle and Miss Crumpton!), the top three were chosen...

    Congratulations to the following:

    1st: Charlotte

    2nd: Rebecca

    3rd: Jovan & Leah

A giant well done both Isla and Emily - these are certainly the skills that will be required next year in Year 6.

    Great job, girls!

  • 'Come on England!' Non-Uniform Day - Friday 9th July

    Thu 08 Jul 2021

To celebrate the fabulous achievement by the England Football team of reaching the Euro 2020 Final on Sunday, we have decided that this Friday will be our ‘Come On England!’ non-uniform day.

To show our support, we would like all of the children to come to school wearing England kit, football shirts or red and white items of clothing. Children can also come to school with faces painted or hair coloured if you so wish.

If your family allegiances lie with another country, then you are more than welcome to wear these colours or kit instead. Friday is all about celebrating and having fun.

  • One Way System at Oakham - No entry into school via West Avenue

    Thu 01 Jul 2021

The existing one way system was implemented to minimise disruption to the safe arrival and dismissal of children due to C-19 protocols. This system will be in place for the remainder of the Summer term.

Please DO NOT attempt to enter the school via West Avenue to collect children from the KS2 playground or Reception via the pathway at the back of the garage as we are still required to ensure a ONE WAY flow around our site.

Please continue to follow these requirements as your co-operation is crucial in keeping everyone safe. It is vital that we all continue to work together for these last few weeks of term so we can, hopefully, return to our school routines in September.

Thank you for your support and patience.
