  • Happy Birthday Sir Captain Tom and thank you for your inspiration

    To celebrate Captain Sir Tom Moore’s 101st birthday at Oakham we participated in the 100 challenge set by his family. We incorporated this challenge into our maths lessons throughout the school and took part in lots of exciting activities.

     

    The photographs below show some of the fun we had and some of the terrific learning.

     

    We had lots of fun taking part and we would like to say thank you to Sir Tom for inspiring us.

  • Home Learning Heroes

    A letter has been sent out today as part of  relaunch our Home Learning expectations for the summer term and beyond. 

    In order to encourage and celebrate the Home Learning efforts of children across the school; we will be launching Oakham’s ‘Home Learning Heroes.’

    During the last Friday Celebration assembly of each month, a ‘Home Learning Hero’ (HLH) will be drawn from each class and awarded a special ‘Home Leaning Hero’ polo shirt to wear in school.

  • Captain Tom 100 - White Rose Maths Challenges

    Friday 30th April 2021 would have been Captain Sir Tom’s 101st birthday and the one-year anniversary of the extraordinary celebrations that followed the conclusion of his famous walk that raised an incredible £38.9 million for the NHS. 

     

    Tom’s simple message of hope – “Tomorrow will be a good day” – resonated around the globe during some of the darkest days of the pandemic, bringing light and comfort to millions worldwide. 
     

    The Captain Tom 100 project is intended to celebrate his life and honour his memory by taking on  a challenge based around the number 100. 

     

    We're supporting the Captain Tom 100 in school on Friday by asking all of the children in school to tackle a variety of challenges and learning tasks from White Rose maths.

  • St Georges Day at Oakham

    St Georges Day was last week on Friday 23rd April and although it wasn't the whole school celebration we planned it to be there was some great work completed in every class throughout the school.

    Below are photographs of some of the fabulous learning including drama and writing and lots of dragons!

  • Attendance tables week beginning 25th April

    Another great week for attendance at Oakham with 95.6% being the average total across the whole school.

    Winners of this weeks trophies are :-

    FS - Nursery am 100%

    KS1 - Class 6 97.9% and

    KS2 Class 13, again with 98.6%

  • FREE HOLIDAY CAMP PLACES for FREE SCHOOL MEALS CHILDREN

    The Department for Education's Holiday Activities and Food Programme has provided funding for councils to deliver free fun activities linked to a food offer for children and young people who are eligible for free school meals during the Easter holidays.

     

    RB Gym and Sport and Earls Gymnastics Club have partnered up with Sandwell Borough Council to provide funded holiday camps for children who are eligible for free school meals.
