  • Year 6 Awards and a Final Goodbye

Mon 24 Jul 2023 Mr Kettle

After the dust has settled on a busy, busy week - full of fun, smiles and pride - a final well done to all of our children in Year 6 for their efforts this year.

Congratulations to all recipients of a bronze, silver or gold award from our Year 6 Merit Award. Whether it was for showing kindness to others, demonstrating superb skills in PE or simply being immersed in your reading at home, each and every gold start was thoroughly earned.

A special mention for each of our wonderful winners for the individual awards, too. Choosing these was extremely difficult - lots of long and deep discussions within both Class 14 and 15! -  but we feel that the following children were more than worthy of their win.

    Achievement Award: Katie L

    Citizenship Award: Ella T & Riya S

Mrs Moore Achievement Award: Bethany L

    Platinum Award: Ava-Rose H & Ekamjeet S

    Progress Award: Armaani G

    Successful Learner Award: Sophie F

A final word from me, Year 6. It has been an awesome year, and that is down to not only your graft in the classroom and investment in your learning - but for coming into school with smiles on your faces and support for each other.

    Thank you and good luck.

  • Our KS2 SATs Results - 2023

Thu 13 Jul 2023 Mr Kettle

We are extremely proud to share with you our KS2 SATs results for this academic year.

Looking back at the SATs week itself, what was most pleasing was how calm and relaxed the children were, especially with a few nerves flying around the Oakham corridors in the days and weeks before.

Each and every child gave it their very best, being invested in lessons, grafting away in their revision guides and attending after-school Boosters.

Please see the table below for our school's performance alongside data taken from DfE National Results:

Subject Expected Standard at Oakham 2023 Greater Depth Standard at Oakham 2023 National Average of Expected Standard 2023
    Reading 85% 48% 73%
    Writing 77% 13% 71%
    Maths 90% 28% 73%
    Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling 87% 46% 72%
    Combined Reading, Writing & Maths 77% N/A 59%

A document explaining how to interpret your child's results has been shared on the school app; however, if you have any questions about them or what they mean, please come and speak to Mr Kettle or Mr Heywood.

With your child's individual results and end-of-year report (which we hope not only celebrates your child's academic progress, but, more importantly, their personal progress) shared, we can now look ahead to the fun and games awaiting us with two production performances and the Leavers BBQ and Awards.

Class of 2023 - we are so proud of you all!

    Mr Kettle and Mr Heywood

  • Black Country Day Friday 14th July

    Wed 12 Jul 2023

Friday 14th July sees us celebrate Black Country Day at Oakham Primary.

It's a free non-uniform day so children can come with painted faces, coloured hair, wear red, white and/or black coloured clothing or local football or sports team kits.

This year, children will be completing Black Country learning activities in classes during the school day to celebrate our local history and legacy.

    Let’s have a Bostin’ Day!
