  • Oakham Primary & Coastal Estates International School - Live Link-Up!

    Tue 21 Nov 2023

Today, Year 3 had the privilege of linking up with Coastal Estates School in Ghana. Children across both continents listened to a story commissioned by Black Country Touring called ‘Where Are You?’

The themes of the story were loyalty, overcoming distances and the benefits of being mutually supportive of each other. This provided us with some fantastic links to our PSHE and geography curriculum.

All of the children were clearly inspired by the beauty of the wonderful places that the characters within the story experienced on their journeys and hopefully, they learned that the power of friendship can overcome all obstacles.

Rather excitingly, children were also able to ask questions live to our partner Ghanaian school. We learned about the climate, the school day and favourite Ghanaian delicacies.

We hope to begin a longstanding relationship between both schools so please look out for further news of this in the coming months.

At the end of the production, children received a special, commemorative copy of ‘Where Are You?’ This will be theirs to keep and cherish.

Thank you, to all involved, for your wonderful support and for making such a positive difference to the experiences of our Year 3 community
