.
Some of our children will not be returning to school at the moment so we are reviewing our arrangements to support learning at home.
We are pleased to announce that Miss Haselock (KS1) and Mr Kettle (KS2) have been appointed as our Home Learning Ambassadors and will be managing this area for Oakham families.
Later this week we will be launching a new area of our E-Learning Portal on the website - this will give families more information on our expectations for children learning from home or attending school part-time.
As I explained in my letter last week, we would ask that all families refrain from accessing next weeks BBC Bitesize learning sessions and resources as these will form the basis of eac weeks learning focus in and out of our school.
Our plan is to follow the BBC Bitesize model but with additional resources and activities supplied by our HL Ambassadors. Thererfore, we need to work a week behind in order to allow them time to add the additional resources. We will also explain how some families will be supported with accessing copies of some of these materials.
In the meantime, children can continue to use the Bug Club, Mathletics, X Table Rockstars and the many other links to learning activities and websites.
More information will be released later next week in readiness for our launch on the 8th June. As previously explained, this is not intended to replicate a full day or week in school - as soon as it is appropriate, we will endeavour to get all children back into a normal routine and continue their learning journey at Oakham
Thank you for your co-operation.
We will be reopening our doors to Key Worker children and those children in Reception, Year One and Six who have registered with us.
The online registration form is now closed. Any eligible families who wish to return to school will need to contact the school office to give notice and complete this process before bringing children to school.
A short video has been created to help explain to children the process of returning to a socially distanced primary school. I would ask you share this with your children alongside the photographs taken in Oakham on Friday.
You will see that the playgrounds have been zoned for separate bubbles to use during staggered break and lunchtimes. Classrooms have had some furniture and resources removed and they are now socially distanced.
Corridors and toilets will be managed and restrictions placed on numbers in rooms. Around the school , families and visitors will need to follow guidance for accessing areas of the site
We have fully followed all national and local guidance to make our school as safe as we can; including precautions and plans for dealing with any illness in school.
Thank you all of the staff who have worked very hard in preparing the school buildings and site and to all of the parents and carers who have supported us through this difficult period.
We are still in a period of flux and these latest developments may still be subject to change by the LEA or Government.
Our plans are thorough BUT will only work with everyone's co-operation and patience; children, school staff, parents and carers will need to pull together through this period to make Oakham a happy place to be.
Thank You
I have added a letter providing further details regarding the phased reopening on Monday. It is a lengthy read but I have tried to cover as many areas as possible,
I have also uploaded a detailed pdf map for AM/Pm drop-offs and collections - please follow the guidance as it is designed to make the reopening as smooth and safe as possible for everyone at Oakham.

Many thanks,

The registration system is now live and can be accessed via the link below.
The phased return is open to:
You MUST complete a separate form for each child who is eligible to attend from June 1st 2020 (this also includes all Key/Critical Worker families).
Please note:
All children will be in their own year group bubbles; Key/Critical worker children will be in a separate bubble to Non Key/Critical Worker children in the same year group.
Children from the same family will be in school on the same day but be in a different year group bubble.
These measures are in place to reduce contact between larger groups of children.
The closing date for our initial registration is 9am Tuesday 26th May.
From June 1st 2020, eligible families who wish to register will need to give a weeks notice to be allocated a place in school. (Sandwell LEA GUidance, May 2020)
Good evening - I have outlined the school proposal for a phased return to school for some year groups on Monday 1st June 2020.
Thank you for all of your feedback from last weeks questionnaire, it has provided us with a great deal of valuable information to inform our planning. Apologies for the delay in releasing this information as it has been a very long day!
A registration form for eligible pupils will be released on Thursday for completion by next Tuesday, 26th May.
I hope that this letter will provide the answers to many of the points and questions raised last week, however, additional information will be released this Friday to add further detail to the many areas that this phased return entails.

School will be closed for the Bank Holiday on Monday 25th May to all children.
We will reopen on Tuesday 26th May for the rest of the holiday to children of Key/Critical Workers.
In accordance with the current Government and Sandwell LEA proposals, all key/critical worker children will be eligible for a full time place from Monday June 1st 2020.
Further details will be released on Wednesday 20th May.
We have been asked to circulate a letter to parents and carers of children at Oakham by Chris Ward, Director of Education, Skills and Employment.
This letter outlines Sandwell's proposed approach to the phased return to school on June 1st 2020. Also attached is a FAQ section that should provide answers to some of the most common queries and concerns previously raised.
Following a busy but productive planning day with the Oakham Senior Leadership Team, I will be releasing Oakham's offer to parents and carers on Wednesday for your consideration.
In addition, we will also be issuing an online form that will require completion to indicate if your children will be returning to school if they are Key/Critical worker, Y1, Y6 or Reception children.
This will be required to reserve a place in school and allow us to allocate children in appropriately sized groups.
Thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.
Mr N Skett
The staff at Oakham have followed up their picture messages with letters to their classes.
They are in the 'Parents > Letters Home' section of the website or by clicking HERE.
We hope that they will brighten up your Monday morning and encourage the children to stay positive - we hope you enjoy reading them :)
