We would like to share with you the attendance awards for last week. Well done to classes - 3, 7, 11 and 12 who will have the attendance trophies in their classrooms for the whole week. The figures overall are excellent with two classes actually achieving 100% attendance! Thank you, as always for you commitment to your child's learning, whilst at the same time adhearing to Covid 19 restrictions.
Whole school attendance for the week is 97.08%
"Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. This relationship between attendance and achievement may appear early in a child's school career. Research shows that attendance is an important factor in student achievement." Next week there is a annual national initiative called 'Anti Bullying Week.' Children will take part in a virtual assembly and activities and discussions in class around "Everyone being different but everyone being equal." For part of the programme children are encouraged to wear odd socks as a physical representation of difference but we will NOT be doing that at this time because we do take part in that later on in the year when we support 'Downs Syndrome Awareness Day.' There is a parents pack that you may find interesting with various activities and items for discussion that would be suitable to take part in with your child/children and to share with you what your child has been experiencing in school.

At 11 O'Clock, we paused our busy school day to remember those who sacrificed so much to secure the freedom and values that we enjoy today.
Year Six House Captains gathered to lay a Wreath of Remembrance at our school memorial that was created by pupils in 2014 to mark the 100th Anniversary of the outbreak of World War One.
'They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.'

Families should now have received their children's PPP for Autumn Term as we will not be able to run our normal Parent & Carer Evenings to discuss how the children are settling back into Oakham.
Key Stage One & Two Pupil Progress Postcards (PPP) are intended to give an overview of children's learning so far this term through feedback on their ‘Personal Attitude to Learning’ and their ‘Personal Standard of School Work and Learning Tasks.’ These areas have been rated using a traffic light system; Red, Amber or Green.
Green: Great attitude and significant progress/attainment
Amber: Satisfactory attitude and progress
Red: Requires greater effort/focus and currently not working at expected standard.
EYFS PPP's reflect children's progress against the 'Development Matters' statements and baseline 'Wellcomm' screening. We have also included a copy of a child observation and an example of their learning.
Later this week, we will distribute a Google Form link to give families the opportunity to feedback on their child's PPP.
Please contact the school office if you have not received your copy or have changed your email address since the summer term.
We are following strict guidance on managing and protecting our bubbles of children in school. Please help maintain this by ensuring that all children wait with you in any queues and avoid them mixing, where possible, before and after school.
At the end of the day, families should leave the site as safely as possible once your children have been collected.
Following consultation with Sandwell LEA regarding the current Lockdown period and increased transmission rates of C-19 locally, we encourage adults to wear masks when on the school grounds.
Children can also wear masks on the way to and from school. Please ensure that they have a plastic bag to store these in during the school day.
Thank you for your support and co-operation
Due to the ongoing social distancing guidance and Lockdown restrictions, we will not be able to run our normal Parents and Carers Evenings or Key Worker meeting for Early Years & Foundation Stage.
Obviously, it is important to update you on how children are making progress in their new classes so we have developed Virtual Personal Progress Postcards (PPP).
These will give you feedback on your child’s ‘Personal attitude to Learning’ and ‘Personal Standard of School Work and Learning Tasks.’ These are traffic light colour coded and also include personalised comments reflecting on how your child has settled in to their new class.
In addition to this the PPPs, also have individual targets for the next half term and a colour photograph of a piece of work that reflects your child’s learning. EYFS children will also have their own version of the PPP but will reflect the ‘Early Years Areas of Learning and Development’ framework, alongside a photograph of a learning activity and a copy of a key worker observation.
The PPP’s are being distributed later this week and after the weekend via email as PDF copies. If your email address has been changed since the summer reports were circulated, please contact the school office.
Next week we will circulate a Google form to enable feedback on the PPPs and pass on your comments to class teachers.
