  • Edenred e-Vouchers

    Thu 16 Apr 2020

We have been informed that many eligible families have now received their evoucher via email. This code has to be converted to an e-giftcard before you can spend it in your chosen supermarket.

We have now been sent a guide on how to this if you are having problems using them. CLICK HERE for the pdf.

I apologise for any difficulties this may have caused but we have only been informed of this procedure today as the FSM scheme is now being managed by an external company.

We will continue to update families on this website and app.

  • Covid-19 & Home Learning

    Tue 14 Apr 2020

We will be adding updated activities to the E-Learning Portal next week, after the 'Easter Holiday' period. We would suggest that in addition to Active Learn, Mathletics and TTRockStars, children should be reading daily at home/online, where appropriate. Foundation Stage children have been provided with Topic mind maps as suggested activities.

After Easter, the BBC Bitesize team are planning to offer additional age appropriate learning activities online - more details can be found here. These will provide a range of activities through the red button, website and iPlayer.

Children currently accessing the school's emergency childcare service are completing the above activities in school and then  craft, art and PE sessions - they are not receiving full-time, formal learning.

We will only resume this, once all of the children return and the lock-down is lifted. Due to the suspension of the National Curriculum, we would not expect parents and carers to replicate a typical, school day.

This provision will be regularly reviewed with the Local Authority and Department for Education as the C-19 situation develops.

I understand that many families are keen for their children to return to school and as soon as it is deemed safe enough, we will be more than happy to get back to 'business-as-usual' at Oakham...until then, take care!

  • Free School Meals: Government funded E-Voucher Scheme

    Mon 06 Apr 2020

Over the weekend, The Government has decided to bring forward the new FSM Voucher Scheme to cover the Easter holidays. This means that eligible families will receive a weekly £15-00 voucher for every child in full time education at Oakham (not including nursery).

The scheme will be managed by Edenred and can be used at: Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Waitrose and M&S (other supermarkets are being consulted and may also join this scheme).

In order to qualify for the new scheme, you will have had to previously apply for Free School Meals and be in receipt of these during this academic year, 2019-20.

If your family circumstances have recently changed and you have applied for Free School Meals, we will add you to the scheme as soon as we are notified by the Local Authority via their regular system updates.

All information regarding how to apply to Sandwell Council can be found at   www.sandwell.gov.uk/forms/form/16/free_school_meals

Families who are using the Universal Free School Meal offer available to all Reception and Key Stage One children do not automatically qualify for the Edenred scheme.

    Current qualifying criteria are:

    • Income Support
    • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
    • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
    • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
    • The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
    • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
    • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
    • Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)

We are currently completing the online preparations to enable administration of this scheme and all eligible families will receive an e-mail from Edenred during this week.

This scheme will provide you with an E-Voucher which can be presented on your smart-phone/tablet at the supermarkets previously listed.

Alternatively, the E-Voucher can be printed and handed over at the till. If families are unable to do either of these options, please contact the school and a paper copy will be provided for you to collect and sign for.

Therefore, from Monday 13th April 2020, we will end the £10-00 ASDA provision for all Pupil Premium families and switch to the FSM E-Voucher Scheme with Edenred, for eligible families only.

Any enquiries or issues around the E-Voucher scheme should be sent to school.office@oakham.sandwell.sch.uk

  • Government Proposal for Free School Meals Vouchers

    Wed 01 Apr 2020

You may have seen on the national news or on social media that the Government has released plans for a new e-voucher scheme that will enable purchases from a wide range of supermarkets. This new, weekly allowance will be £15-00 a pupil.

We are in the process of switching to this scheme and have already received some enquiries from families. As soon as this is ready to be rolled out to all of our children, we will provide full details via this website and school app.

Until then, please continue to collect your weekly £10 ASDA vouchers from the school office - this applies to every child currently on our 2019-20 Pupil Premium list.
