Our wonderful House Captains led Oakham's Remembrance period of reflection today at 11am. This was impeccably observed by all of the children across the whole school.
They placed poppies and a RBL wreath at our school memorial, followed by a short reading taken from 'For The Fallen' by Laurence Binyon.
To launch National Anti-Bullying Week at Oakham, we'd like everyone to wear odd socks to school on Monday (no donations are needed).
Miss Stretton will be leading special assemblies on Monday and children will also be completing Anti Bullying Week sessions during the week.
Many thanks go to the lads from the Murphy Group who have been busy working on the KS1 bank to remove the trim trail. Their generosity has saved the school a considerable amount to remove this as it was unstable and had made that area unusable.
The bank area will be grassed for next spring and now has an amazing 'Bug Hotel' - hand built by the team - which will allow lots of creepy crawlies to find a home and provide a great resource for science lessons too!
Many thanks for braving the Oakham weather and all of your hard work!
A special mention goes to Jennifer Walker at LMJV for ensuring this work could take place too.
We have received an email today from Helen Trueman, the development coordinator for Grace Mary 2 Lion Farm (GM2LF). They do lots of great work in the community for our school and families including 'The Big Feed'
This year any body who lives, works, volunteers or have children attending a school within the GM2LF Postcode area and receives benefits can apply for a free Christmas Lunch hamper. Please note hampers are collection only and people must be available on 23rd December at the stated time to collect. Please see the poster below for more information.
