Thank you to all parents and carers that attended yesterday afternoon's Year 6 Awards. Although it was sweltering in the school hall, it was a perfect way to celebrate the 'red-hot- achievements of this wonderful year group.
A huge well done to all recipients of a Bronze, Silver, or Gold award from our Year 6 Merit Award. Whether it was for some amazing creative writing, or simply showing kindness to a fellow classmate, to achieve these gold stars is no easy feat. A special mention to Arion and Isabella who both have gone the extra mile this year and each received a Platinum Award.
And finally, we were bursting with pride yesterday to present our individual awards. Each one of these children has shined in their own unique way this year - they are a credit to the school, their families, and, of course, themselves.
Gill Moore Award: Camden T
Successful Learner Award: Jovan M
Progress Award: Ruby-Mae F B
Achievement Award: Ellie Tranter
Year 6, from myself and the all the staff who have had the pleasure to teach you, thank you for all your efforts.
Mr Kettle and Mr Heywood
We have many items of donated school uniform available in many sizes. All of the items are in great condition, washed and ironed before being added to the rack.
if you can't find a particular item or size, please ask at the school office window and we will do our best to help as there are additional uniform supplies in school.
A small donation can be left if you wish but families are not obligated to - it's more important for us to get the uniform out and be worn.
Any donations of unwanted uniform, in good condition, are always welcome. Please hand these in at the school office.
Cradley Heath Community Link are also having a school uniform bank in the Summer holidays, please see the poster below for more information.
It's another busy day at Oakham, up on the Bonk, with all key stages celebrating our Black Country Day.
Our children will be learning all about our local heritage and enjoying a range of fun activities and possibly a few new words to practice at home!
Tarra-a-Bit!
You may have seen on the front car park and in 'The lodge,' two wooden huts that look remarkably like bee hives or rabbit hutches...they actually contain books.
We want to share the joy of reading with our parents and carers as well as our children. The book hutch is free for anyone to use and you can take a book without having to donate one. However if you have any books that you would like to donate just pop them in the 'hutch.'
The one on the front car park is for parents and carers and contains both fiction and non fiction books and the one in the lodge is for the children.
After our Year Six children were put through their paces during SATs week last May, this week we have received the long-awaited results, and we are delighted to share them with you.

Subject | Expected Standard | Greater Depth | National Average (Expected Standard) |
Reading | 88% | 41% | 74% |
Writing | 81% | 15% | 69% |
Maths | 80% | 25% | 72% |
SPaG | 86% | 50% | 72% |
As a staff and a school, we are immensely proud of how well they have done; considering how much time at school that our children have missed and all the many challenges they have faced.
And, although these successes should be celebrated, we have shared with our children that this year has not been all about the SATs. They do not solely reflect the progress that they have made in the classroom and in lessons.
I speak on behalf of the Year 6 team that we hope that your child's report does justice to that.
With the Sleepover, Y6 Production Afternoon and Evening Performances, Leavers BBQ and Awards, we now look forward to an exciting last few weeks at Oakham for our Year Sixes!

It's been a very busy 'Future Careers Week' at Oakham.
A massive thank you to all of the parents who gave up some of their time to drop into classes and talk about their careers and occupations.
It's the first time we've been able to launch this project in school and all of the children have enjoyed learning about a wide range of potential careers
Our visitors may well have inspired the next generation to follow in their footsteps?
It was also very pleasing to be told, by more than one visitor, that the children wowed them with their engagement and an amazing range of questions.
A very worthwhile week - thanks again to everyone who helped!
