It only felt like minutes since we said our fondest farewells to our parents and carers - but day one is nearing its completion. 

The journey itself is breathtaking and we were very lucky to take in the stunning sights of hills, mountains and peaks. Echoing through the coach were "oooohs" and "ahhhhs" - with a few very dodgy song choices starting at the back of the coach - from very excited year 6s, ready to embrace the adventures that awaited them.

After demolishing our lunches, we went through our objectives for the week:

• To develop collaboration, communication and teamwork skills
• To foster a sense of resilience in new situations

(And, of course, not to forget: To have fun!)

This was immediately put to the test with arguably the most challenging task of the week... to fix their bedsheets for the week. Although there were some solid efforts, collaboration, communication and teamwork went right out of the window! The boys on Mr Kettle's floor have some serious work to do on the domestic duties front this week.

Finally, it was time to get our kit on and explore the centre's grounds. Now, we don't mind getting a little wet here at Plas but rarely is this on the first day. Records are there to be broken, right? Step forward Ivy, plunging her wellies straight into the stream - but with a huge smile on her face. Onwards and upwards, Ivy!

Before we knew it, it was time for our tea - a choice of 🍕 or 🐟 'n' 🍟s. A tough choice... but followed up with Arctic roll - yum! 

To finish our first day, the famous Plas Gwynant Scavenger Hunt, which was an opportunity to get back out in the centre's grounds in the pitch-black dark but, more importantly, to work towards our goals for the week. We had everything from partial tree trunks to an actual slug (no slugs were harmed in the participation of this game).

But, with a few tired faces already, it was time for hot chocolate to wash down a few of those precious memories already made
