We would like to offer you, in partnership with Sandwell Council, a place on a short webinar to raise awareness of Prevent and online safety for children and young people.
This is a joint project run by Sandwell Council’s Prevent team and Sandwell Children’s Trust, as part of the council’s #Safer6 campaign.
Child and Young People Online Safety Awareness for Parents
People are using technology and online spaces more than ever before – especially since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The internet is a fantastic source of information and a great way to keep in touch with others, but it also comes with risks – especially for children and young people.
The 30-minute online safety session will cover:
· Concerns to look out for
· Online issues for children (from the NSPCC) and statistics
· Key information on popular apps and social media platforms (including age limits)
· Useful tips, advice and links to keep your child safe online
· Information and support
· Additional resources
The theme for the session is that the online world changes quickly. Parents need to be able talk to their children about their activity online on a regular basis, to keep them safe.
The online safety session will be immediately followed by a short 15-minute brief on raising awareness of Prevent.
The sessions will be delivered by Sandwell Council’s Prevent Education Officer, Justin Nixon and Sandwell Children’s Trust Youth Officer Sarfraz Khan via Microsoft Teams on:
1) Wednesday 25 November 5:30pm – 6:15pm
2) Thursday 26 November 9:30am – 10:15am
3) Thursday 26 November 18:00pm – 18:45pm
