Home Learning @ Oakham

Home Learning at Oakham

We expect all of our children to complete some additional learning out of school hours.

We understand that many children and their families have busy lives so our expectations reflect this. Home learning is flexible and designed to work around home lives and hobbies.

It is planned to compliment the children's learning in school and reinforce key learning skills and concepts.

Oakham's Home Learning Heroes (HLH)

We encourage and celebrate the Home Learning efforts of children across the whole school by announcing our monthly Oakham ‘Home Learning Heroes.’

Our Home Learning Heroes are chosen by staff when they have consistently completed home learning tasks online, such as BugClub  or TTRockStars.

Others will have regularly read at home and had their reading record updated and signed by an adult at home or completed phonics or spelling activities to build on their learning in school.

During the last Friday Celebration assembly of each month, a ‘Home Learning Hero’ (HLH) is chosen from each class and  awarded a special certificate and ‘Home Leaning Hero’ polo shirt to wear in school.
