On Thursday 9th November, we had the honour of inviting Mr Stewart Towe -Deputy Lieutenant of the West Midlands, Mr Roger Roberts, a WW2 Naval veteran, and members of the Oldbury branch of the Royal British Legion to a very special Upper Key Stage Two assembly and Remembrance Service.
All of the children in Years Five and Six embraced this opportunity to learn about Mr.Robert’s experiences in the Royal Navy through an informative talk and some excellent questions from our pupils.
The Remembrance service was a poignant and moving morning for all involved with superb readings, lowering of the RBL standard and a Bugler to mark an impeccable two minutes silence which was observed by all of the school.
The event was covered by BBC Midlands Today – you can watch this using the link below.
All of our VIP’s were extremely complimentary about our UKS2 children and their engagement with the Royal British Legion Remembrance campaign.
