Information for Parents

Please see the message below:

Further to the letter that was shared with families at the beginning of Autumn term, we felt it would be useful to clarify the following:

Under the national framework for school attendance in England, penalty notices are fines of £80 or £160 issued to parents when a child has 10 or more sessions (5 school days) of unauthorised absence within a rolling 10 school week period.

Term-Time Leave: Holidays in term time are not allowed and are classed as unauthorised; exceptional leave needs Head Teacher approval via a form submitted 3 weeks in advance.

Fine Amounts and Structure

  • First Offence: £80 if paid within 21 days, rising to £160 if paid within 28 days.
  • Second Offence (within 3 years): A flat rate of £160 payable within 28 days, with no early-payment discount.
  • Third Offence: Escalates to court proceedings via the Single Justice Procedure or other council actions within a 3-year period.

The fines are per parent and per child.

If you have any further queries, please contact the school office.
