Plas Gwynant - Thursday Update

Year 6 Residential – Plas Gwynant: Day 4

With this final blog from our 2026 residential, we are so pleased to share that the children have had a truly wonderful week. Not only have they developed their teamwork, collaboration and resilience, but perhaps the most rewarding thing to witness has been seeing children across the year group mix, connect, and head home with new friendships.

So, what better way to celebrate than with a disco? A blast of Freed From Desire ensured our week at Plas Gwynant finished with a bang.

On the decks this year was DJ Boaler, treating us to a great mix of contemporary hits and classic pop songs. However, the standout moment of the evening was a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday for Freddie, who celebrated his special day by conquering a mountain and enjoying some well-earned cake — a winning combination!

There have been some lovely diary entries this evening, so let’s finish with a few good ones:

Willow: “Today we had to climb a mountain (so hot!). It felt like it took a million hours but I finished my camera – yay! As a treat, we went to the shop and I bought a teddy bear, rubber, pencils and Smarties. Had fun!

Zak: “Today was the highlight of the week as we finished with canoeing and then bouldering through caves. When we got on the bus, we saw a few people doing dances on the rocks and the whole bus started laughing! The last four days have flown by and I definitely had fun but looking forward to seeing my parents tomorrow.”

Nancy: “Today we climbed a HUGE mountain and it was really tiring – the views were unbelievably cool. On the evening, we had a little disco and it was REALLY fun. We packed a little for tomorrow and I’m really going to miss this place.”

…You lot have done us proud!

Mr Kettle and the rest of our Plas Gwynant staff, signing off for another year.
