Blind Dave visits Oakham to launch 'Move More Sandwell'

Children in Key Stage Two had the great pleasure of spending time with Black Country legend, 'Blind Dave' Heeley on Wednesday.

He took a break for his impressive training schedule to visit Oakham and encourage all of the children, staff and their families to get involved with the ' Move More Sandwell' project.

After an inspiring talk about his life-story, numerous charity fundraising challenges and how exercise is so important in our modern lifestyles,  Dave answered some very impressive questions from our children.

These covered topics such as his favourite challenges, dealing with blindness and which members of the royal family he has met (we won't mention her majesty's drinking habits, Dave!)

Following the assembly, Dave worked with Classes 8 and 9 and got everybody busy running around the playground and school hall to experience what it's like to exercise without your full vision.

Many thanks to Matt Hill at Public Health for arranging the visit and also to our Council VIP's; Sharon, Maria and  Lorraine for their support too!

We wish Dave and his team all the best with their next fundraising challenge when they 'Escape from Colditz' later this year!
