September 2017 Governing Body News
The new academic year is now well underway, and the Governing Body held its first meeting earlier this month. Members re-elected the Chair (Mr V. Turner) and Vice-chair (Mrs J. Handley), and the various committees were reviewed and re-formed. Routine administrative procedures were also on the agenda.
Just as the school has an ongoing self review/school improvement plan, it was suggested earlier this year that the governors should have something similar. This would involve reviewing all aspects of the role of the governing body, governor skill sets, identifying strengths and areas for development, looking at individual training needs and setting an appropriate action plan and time scale. Therefore, following the official meeting, the first part of this self-review training took place, led by Mr Rouse, who has extensive experience in this type of process . A follow-up meeting is planned following collation of the information gathered.
